The following examples illustrate some of our contributions to this business sector:

• A large scale developer and builder of houses hired Touchstone to perform accelerated life testing of perspective exterior lamps, locks, door knobs. This allows the company to find the best value ­ the longest life at the lowest cost while simultaneously reducing the number of claims under warranty.
• A problem with carpeting involved extreme difficulty on attempted removal of old carpet from a hotel. The answer was found by examining video instructions on installation and comparing the instructions to actual carpeting samples. It was found that the wrong practice had been followed when the carpet was installed where the foam padding underlayment had been securely bonded to the concrete floors. The intention was to use a low strength adhesive to allow easy removal.
