This test is in Touchstone’s NADCAP and ISO 17025 scope.
ASTM D3039 testing covers the determination of the in-plane tensile properties of polymer matrix composite materials reinforced by high-modulus fibers. The composite material forms are limited to continuous fiber or discontinuous fiber-reinforced composites in which the laminate is balanced and symmetric with respect to the test direction.
This test determines in-plane tensile properties of polymer matrix composite (PMC) materials reinforced by high-modulus fibers. Composite material forms are limited to continuous-fiber or discontinuous-fiber reinforced composites where the laminate is balanced and symmetric with respect to the test direction.
A tensile specimen is mounted in the grips of the testing machine. Usually, load deformation or load strain curves are plotted or digitally collected during the test for the determination of the elastic modulus.
Touchstone engineers are experienced in specimen preparation and tabbing (which are key to accurate results) for ASTM D3039 and many other test methods.
Please email info@trl.com or call (304) 547-5800 for information regarding test procedures, results, specimen information, pricing or any other ASTM D3039 questions you may have.
